Absolutely. Weight-for-weight, there is (or soon will be) more plastic in our oceans than fish.
The disposable ballpoint was right there as our children learned to write and think in classrooms, and so was the bin — long before recycling bins appeared. That attitude for a Disposable Culture, quickly embedded in our everyday lives, particularly in the so-called developed urban societies.
We really need to just stop thinking of plastic as cheap throw-away stuff. It’s a brilliant, durable, and ideal material for many things and when used its durability should be celebrated by continual use.
Thank, Sorin, for your encouragement and for taking the time to comment.
