Hi Mitsuki - it means a lot when a genuine horror aficionado (who is also Japanese) approves, thank you! š«¶š»
I really enjoyed Tomie and the prequel, Tomie: Beginning, which I watched together in one sitting. They have a unique atmosphere and complement the manga without simply regurgitating it across another medium. I think their distinguishing achievement is giving Tomie a deeper emotional core - you can tell she longs to connect with Tsukiko and have a genuine friendship, even though they both realise this can never happen because of other people's responses... (there's a deep metaphor there.) Kudos to Miho Kanno (and also Rio Matsumoto) for superb performances as Tomie.
