three reliable and really-easy-cook vegetarian meals that have become favourites over the years

So, I’m stepping up as a food blogger to share three of my favourite ‘go-to’ meals that are easy to prepare and have the added appeal of being associated with the celebrities from whom I learned them. Two of those names evoke a vivid nostalgia for me — one recalling the bygone television landscape of childhood with old-time family dinners round the noisy table and, the other, my first years of quiet independence away from home. The third celebrity brings things right up-to-date with the thrills of making connections across the world-wide-web and discovering a contemporary multi-media artist of joyous vitality — the stuff of science fiction for my earlier, twentieth-century selves.

A strong sense of nostalgia is often attached to food and flavours and these three recipes represent three big chapters in my life from childhood through to ‘maturity’… As with all cookery, unless you’re cheffing a classic for some random diner, these recipes are guidelines and ingredients can be adjusted to suit one’s individual tastes. I’ve certainly tinkered with the methods and ratios over the years. If there’s an ingredient that you don’t enjoy, try experimenting with substitutes.
