It's well known that 'tribal art' had a big influence on early Modern art, but usually this is framed in the context of African masks and carvings on the likes of Picasso and Matisse. The art of native American cultures clearly had as strong an influence on many of their contemporaries but is less often pointed out. Kachina dolls are fascinating, indeed.
